Pickles and Ketchups--On Fridays, place them on the board. Anyone who
has turned in all of their assignments is a "pickle" so write their name
under the pickle sign. Anyone who is missing an assignment has their
name placed under the ketchup bottle. Pickles can "pick" a fun game or
activity, while "ketchups" catch up on missing work. It is amazing how
quickly assignments come in!

This reading log is designed to help children and their parents write a
short recap of the book/books being read. It is designed to be given on a
Friday so that the child can begin writing over the weekend. There are
areas for entries on: the weekend, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday. The students keep the log throughout the week in their
responsibility folders and return it on Friday morning. There are
reading strategies with sentence starters as well. The strategies
included are: Summarize, predict, evaluate, question, connect, and
visualize. There are places to write the title, author, minutes read,
and parent signature. There is also a place to place a reading goal. It
can be a general goal for your class, reading group, or individual.
bottom is a brownie baked in a round 8x8 pan. I spread chocolate
frosting around the edge and dipped it in crushed graham crackers. And
simply start building your fire. Twix bar ‘tree logs’, peanut m&m’s
in red, yellow and orange for the ‘hot coals’ and a small bit of tissue
paper for our flames.
